A Story of Hope
Kantha Bae offers a range of one-of-a-kind Kantha designs from re-purposed saree material. Our handmade products support at risk women in Bangladesh and India. We offer a collection of kantha baby carriers, kantha throws, quilts, head wraps, pareos and more.
Kantha Bae offers unique, functional products you use every day from beautifully hand embroidered kantha. Kantha is a type of embroidery, especially popular in India. Women in Bengal typically use old saris and cloth and layer them with kantha stitch to make a light blanket, throw or bedspread, especially for children. We source our Kantha directly from India and Bangladesh and then use our own designs to create products with the fabric.
Each piece can be used a variety of ways. In our shop you'll find baby carriers, scarves, quilts, swaddles, turbans, head wraps, bags and more. We have fallen in love with kantha because each piece of fabric is beautiful and unique telling a beautiful story of hope. Women survivors are taught to hand embroider beautiful sari cloth in the art of kantha as well as make jewelry. They are given a fair wage and an education and their children are cared for in whole and safe environments. Each piece is one-of-a-kind when it comes to the patterns and prints you'll find in our shop, however the Kantha we use is 100% woven cotton.
