Motherhood Stories with Amy Weldon
Each week, we will be featuring Motherhood Stories from women in the Kantha Bae community. We want to share the inspiring stories we see everyday, and connect you with new moms. If you haven't already, please be sure to join our Kantha Bae Mamas Group.
This weeks motherhood story comes from Amy Weldon of @grow.old.withme
What’s your name and where are you from?

Tell us about your family - Who are the special people in your life?
Tell us about your family - Who are the special people in your life?
My husband and I got married at 19 and 21. He is my favorite person and a wonderfully skilled carpenter. We are currently working through a home remodeling project. We have 6 children ages 16, 15, 13, 10, 8, and 2. We also have a dog named Moe.
Tell us about your work - Are you a stay at home mom? Do you have a full-time job? Do you work from home? Run your own business?
I am a stay-at-home homeschool mom. I also work from home with a very successful network marketing business. I love helping other people, especially mamas, find health and freedom!
Tell us your motherhood story - Did you always know that you wanted to be a mom? When did you have your first child? What is your hope for this motherhood journey?
Growing up I was the youngest of 4, so I didn't have much practice with kids. However, exactly 9 months from our wedding day, our firstborn daughter arrived! She is the best honeymoon baby ever, and we are so thankful for our wild tribe. My hope for motherhood is to encourage our children in their specific bent. We have a veterinarian, pilot, inventor, ninja, musician, ballerina and dinosaur-lover in our mix. It is so much fun to watch their passions grow and encourage them to do what God has gifted them each individually to do. We are not raising them as mini extensions of us, but as the unique humans they are, each gifted in their own specific callings.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
It is wild to have two kids with jobs and also still be changing diapers and fitting in naps. This stage of life is so different than others past. The older ones finish school in their own time, around work schedules. The middle ones need more attention, while the toddler needs constant supervision. Breakfast and lunch are squeezed in while we fight hard to settle around for dinner. There is actually no typical day, because the flow is constantly changing. The one thing that stays constant is my afternoon cup of hot tea. It helps me to make time to sit and be still, even if it can't always be at home.
What are you most passionate about?
I am passionate about marriage, traveling, writing, hospitality and mothering. I also love to help others on their personal health journeys.
What is the most joyful part of being a mother?
Watching our children learn about life and what they love to do. Helping to uncover their gifts and encourage them to pursue their dreams.
What advice do you offer new moms?
What advice do you offer new moms?
It is said so often, but as I watch my kids head off to their first jobs, my advice would be: enjoy every season! Don't be anxious for the newborn stage to end. Or the toddler stage. Or the elementary then teenager stage. All put together, these years are just a blink on the timeline of their life. Enjoy each
chapter and the uniqueness they offer.
