The Open Hands Line: A Trade Storytelling

Our heart here at Kantha Bae is to walk with open hands and have a storyline of integrity and hope in our brand. We aim to bring that story into the fashion world, and we are so excited to say that the OH Line is the next chapter in this journey.

In the journey of designing beautiful Kantha pieces the last few years, the Kantha Bae dream and vision to tell a bigger story started to form. There are many shops like ours beginning to link arms to bring integrity and hope to their brand by sourcing with integrity and providing healthy workplaces and wages to their makers. We wanted to begin partnering with these brands by bringing designs to our brand to pair with our more vibrant pieces from India + Bangladesh. In doing this we all grow together and are able to be part of a bigger story and make a bigger impact to global fashion. This process has been a journey as it’s not been easy to find clothing that is not just a “consumable,” but a product that makes a difference in the lives of others as well. Because of that, our KB Fam went on a mission to find brands that we could link arms with and  pieces of the highest quality to “style with” the beautiful silks and Kantha you know and love. This is the beginning of the “Open Hands Line,” or the “OH Line.”

We are working to grow a community of stories and establish a beautiful marketplace that empowers people and communities, while also giving back. We are going to see each other, support each other, and all grow together with open hands.

When you choose to shop with our “O.H. Line” a portion of proceeds go to communities in Northern India and Bangladesh to provide any basic needs for the families we partner with. This is of course in addition to the beautiful work they do hand crafting the Kantha pieces you have come to know and love! This new design we are just so thrilled to introduce to you. From the fabric to the style to the fit…it’s amazing and we know you are going to love them. This design is our first design we get to introduce as U.S. made. We are working closely with two small family owned companies creating work right here in the U.S. during a very difficult year for small business. The designs you will see are  made in partnership with these families and creators both within the U.S + internationally. Kantha Bae is so very honored and blessed to work with these families and bring their expertise in pattern making, fits, and textiles to the Open Hands Line and to you.

This is the mission statement of one of the beautiful brands behind our Boho Below line. When we read their mission statement we felt an instant connection and had to learn more. The faces behind these pieces are a very small, family owned company that have been so much love + light to work with as we asked all the Q’s to make sure this partnership was a good fit for Kantha Bae!

The struggle to find quality, layerable pieces such as leggings, bralettes etc... that are fairly made + still affordable has been like finding a needle in a haystack. Making circular fabrics that blend the perfect threads for the perfect fit wash after wash is a craft very few countries have mastered. We have searched the world over. Every conversation with these makers was intentional and we believe we have found a great partnership to introduce our new Boho Below line.

At the heart of this brand is an amazing Chinese family who believed they could bring basic designs of the highest quality to the U.S. marketplace. We are thrilled to work with this family who were able  purchase their own production facility in China in order to ensure that there is a safe environment for those working for them. Stateside, we get to connect daily with their small team based out of New Jersey to bring you the most amazing circular fabric designs we know you’re going to love and wear. Not only are these items incredible, (we have all been wearing them non stop) but so is the company behind them!
